Why African Americans are Coming back to the Natural Ways?

I find it amazing that many people are coming back to the natural ways, and particularly African-Americans. I myself was called many many years ago as a child. But, it is as though that the Goddess has called everyone at once. Although, in history, there has always been African-American people who had the spiritual calling of the ATR’s, Hoodoo and Shamanism the number of people who have increased in the Metaphysical following is tremendous. Why now have people turned to the Earth Based Consciousness?

There are many possibilities. One possibility is that many have found, with the Self Awareness Movement, that the traditional Western religions do not address their need for ethnic pride and lineage. With today’s need to acknowledge natural hair, lost ancestors and lost heritage there is also a need to walk the paths that the ancestors walk and to feel the same spiritual energy that they experienced.

Another reason may be that African-American have begun to awaken to the necessity to live a more healthy mind, body and spirit. This does not only include spiritual pursuits but also in the pursuit of eating healthy, having a clean and natural environment, and connecting with Self for good mental health. Going back to the natural ways seems the most simplistic, cost-effective and fulfilling path to this. The religions of the Earth and the Mother and the Lord and Lady teaches the necessity to respect all of Nature, Big Mama, and Creation itself.

The third reason may be that African-Americans, just as many others, have heard about, and have begun to understand the true law of attraction, the power of positive thinking, and the belief that we all have the power to make our own destiny without the need for other traditional religions and faiths.

The final possibility is that women are figuring out that they can seek the goddess within, and African-American men can choose their own god within no matter what god that is.

Mama Ma’at, who presides over what is Fair and True will always tip the scale to find balance. It seems African-Americans are following her course.
